Where to watch

Movie information in first post provided by The Movie Database
Hah, I did watch this with the family when it came out... totally thought the prologue was right up the stolen history alley (especially the turning into stone bit). Beyond that though, not much going on, from a "soft disclosure" or "quality movie" standpoint. Some pacing issues (it has effectively two prologues, which is an odd choice), some laughably cliche plot points and character turns, and forgettable or miscast voice actors (Awkwafina especially... I feel like her personality is at odds with what would have made her character more interesting). It is very pretty though and the world it sets up (again mostly during the first prologue) is fascinating, but mostly wasted. I've heard a lot of comparisons to Avatar: The Last Airbender, I'm not sure on why specifically though. Maybe that show goes a bit deeper in building a similar world and is more worth the effort.

Overall, Raya is replacement level Disney. Your kids will probably like it and promptly forget about it.

2.5 out of 5 stars (heh, maybe I'll start ending every post with a numerical grade.)

That one "unified" world they want to bring back and eventually succeed... I am not even sure if it's a good or bad thing any longer.

On our side of things we can speculate that our world was also unified before something happened. Was that previous world better than what we have today though?
